The Ghana Fund Trade Mission to France and Germany strategically will establish a win-win economic growth opportunity between the three countries – Ghana, France and Germany, and will foster a new economic development paradigm for future prosperity and a sustained economic cooperation between the countries.

Background

Many African countries, if not all, have depended on inward foreign direct investments, and have never given the thought of outward foreign direct investments to both developed and developing countries. Whilst seeking inward foreign direct investments, it is necessary that the opposite of it is considered. Of cause, in the short and medium term, outward foreign direct investments originating from Africa – or specifically, Ghana to other African countries and developed countries may not make significant impact, but is likely to set economic agenda for a strategically important voluntary re-distribution of future economic activity and jobs based on market synergies that would inure to the maximising economic growth in all countries.

France and Germany are important business destinations in several respects: Both countries are economically accommodating and promote the two-way foreign direct investment regime; both countries possess huge markets for goods and services from Ghana; availability of outward foreign direct investments from these countries to Ghana could be in excess of 50 billion Euros in the medium term; and finally, with the incredible cultural diversities and population sizes that both France and Germany enjoy, a Trade Mission to these countries exploring both inward and outward investing opportunities that could rejuvenate industrialisation in Ghana, is indispensable.
